Elexicon Energy Recipient of Ontario Electrical Safety Award

Recognition Highlights Company’s Commitment to Safety Awareness and Education

AJAX, ON — September 20, 2024 – Elexicon Energy (Elexicon), the electricity distribution company serving parts of Durham Region and beyond, has been recognized by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) for its efforts to improve electrical safety education. The ESA presented Elexicon with their Ontario Electrical Safety Award in the category of Consumer Home and Safety.

Elexicon received the award at the ESA’s Annual General Meeting and Safety Awards held yesterday in Mississauga. Elexicon was selected for its commitment to Kids’ Safety Village of Durham Region and Children’s Safety Village in Belleville. Both organizations, located in communities served by Elexicon, deliver safety education programming to elementary school children. Additionally, Elexicon’s Field Safety Supervisor works alongside both organizations to deliver in-classroom presentations on the dangers electricity poses in their home and around their neighbourhood.

“It is a tremendous honour to be recognized for our strong commitment to electrical safety and our partnerships with these two vital community organizations,” said Jeff Lavelle, Field Safety Supervisor. “Elexicon is proud to support and collaborate with Kids’ Safety Village of Durham Region and Children’s Safety Village Belleville, who both provide valuable safety programs in a positive and interactive setting to protect our most valuable resource – our children.”

Kids’ Safety Village of Durham Region was one of seven recipients of Elexicon’s 2024 Charity Golf Tournament, which raised a record-breaking $338,000. Last year, Elexicon signed a five-year partnership with Children’s Safety Village Belleville, committing $25,000 to the community organization.

The ESA created the Ontario Electrical Safety Awards in 2010 to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of individuals and organizations in the safety system to improve electrical safety in the province. The awards recognize exceptional contributions to safety in the areas that present the greatest harm to Ontarians: Powerline Safety, Worker Safety, and Consumer and Home Safety.

This ESA award marks the second time Elexicon has been recognized for its commitment to safety awareness and education. In March 2023, the company received the Electricity Distributors Association’s Public Electrical Safety Award.
