Elexicon Energy business customers have different rates based on their Rate Class, based on kilowatt usage and Rate Zone, based on whether your electricity service area is in Whitby (Whitby Rate Zone) or all other service areas (Veridian Rate Zone).

Generally speaking, your bill will show the following three line items:

  • Electricity
  • Delivery
  • Regulatory Charges

Some of these line items have more than one component. Most but not all of the charges are based on your electricity usage (i.e. kWh).

  • Electricity

This charge is for the electricity you used during the billing period.

The price you pay for electricity is dependent on your account status:

  • If you’re a small business customer that pays TOU electricity prices, you can choose to switch to Ultra-Low Overnight or Tiered prices.
  • With TOU, the price you pay depends on when you use electricity. With Tiered prices, you can use a certain amount of electricity each month at a lower price. Once that limit is exceeded, a higher price applies.
  • Most general service customers in this rate class are on the Regulated Price Plan. Prices under this plan reflect market prices, but are fixed for six month terms to provide greater price stability for customers. For more information on this price plan, including eligibility criteria, please visit the Consumer Information section of the Ontario Energy Board’s website at: oeb.gov.on.ca.
  • Customers who have signed contracts with licensed electricity retailers are billed according to their Retail Contract Price. If you have contracted with a retailer for your electricity supply, your retailer’s name and contact information will be listed on your Elexicon Energy bill.
  • Customers who are not eligible for or have opted out of the RPP and who have not signed contracts with retailers are billed at the Hourly Ontario Energy Price (HOEP). This price is based on the spot market price for electricity as established in the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) administered market.
