Residential Service Isolation

When you’re working on residential projects such as equipment upgrades or panel replacements, a temporary disconnect or power shutdown is needed to safely complete the work.

Elexicon Energy residential customers receive one free isolation per 12 month period, during regular business hours. There is a charge for additional isolations within the 12 month period.

The reconnect notice must be provided to Elexicon no later than 2:30 pm after the ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) Connection Authorization has been received.

Appointments are booked based on Elexicon’s availability. To request an appointment, please complete the Connection and Upgrade Requests Form.

Substation Isolation (Primary) for Maintenance

To temporarily disconnect or shutdown power in order to complete work safely, a primary service isolation is required.

The table below outlines the required fees for this service. This service includes one disconnect and reconnect. Elexicon crews will leave after disconnecting the service and will return for the reconnect after ESA Connection Authorization is received.

A $2,000 deposit is required to book the appointment. Once the appointment is complete, the actual costs will be charged. Any remaining deposit will be refunded back to the customer. Standard rates apply.

All other districts
A $1,022.65 ($905 +HST) deposit is required to book the appointment. Once the appointment is complete, actual costs will be charged up to $1,022.65 per Tariff of Rates. Any remaining deposit will be refunded back to the customer. Standard rates apply.
A $1,022.65 ($905 + HST) fixed fee payment is required to book the appointment. This is a flat fee per Tariff of Rates. and there will be no excess refunded back to the customer.

A minimum of two (2) weeks advance notice is required for all requests, and  appointments are booked based on Elexicon’s availability.

Please remember that Elexicon staff cannot operate customer equipment (44kV switches, etc.) due to liability issues, and therefore, you are required to have your contractor operate customer-owned equipment.

If Elexicon staff are requested to operate customer-owned equipment, they have the right to refuse and your isolation may be cancelled. Elexicon will prove isolation. It will be up to the contractor to apply their own working grounds. Please ensure that you have the necessary operators on site to avoid any work delays or appointment cancellations.

Cancellation Policy

Elexicon requires a minimum of two (2) business days, notice when cancelling a primary/substation isolation. If the appointment is cancelled without the required notice, the charges below will apply.

  • Whitby district: Actuals incurred are charged. The remaining deposit will be refunded to the customer.
  • All other districts: A refund will not be provided for the $905 +HST deposit or fee paid.
