Customer Experience

  • On October 23, Elexicon Energy launched a new electricity price plan for its residential and small business customers. The Ultra-Low Overnight price plan provides a third option for Elexicon customers, in addition to the existing Time-of-Use and Tiered plans.
  • Green Button, an Ontario Ministry of Energy initiative, is a data standard that connects energy customers with secure access to their electricity and natural gas data, allowing them to download and share it with registered third-party vendors who can help analyze the information and find ways to better manage energy costs. The province set November 1 as the deadline for energy and natural gas companies to provide their customers with access to their energy usage data in Green Button. Elexicon was pleased to meet this deadline.
  • Elexicon values its customers, and our Customer Experience team strives to provide customers with assistance in a timely and respectful manner. Provided below are the number of calls and written enquires our team received and responded to in Q3/Q4 2023.

Communications and Thought Leadership

  • Elexicon Energy’s third annual charity golf tournament, held on August 17 at Deer Creek in Ajax, raised a record-breaking $200,000 for six vital community agencies in Durham Region and Belleville. The amount raised from this year’s tournament exceeded last year’s amount by $56,000.
  • Elexicon’s President and CEO, Indrani Butany, received a Canada’s Clean50 Award. Recipients are forward-looking leaders representing the most effective and progressive organizations taking on climate change from every sector, balancing mitigation with adaptation.
  • In early October, Energy Storage Canada recognized six leaders and innovators, including Elexicon – naming the organization its 2023 Champion of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (“DEI”) for its demonstration and commitment for DEI, with concrete metrics measuring progress and future goals.
  • On October 26, Elexicon was selected Top Business in the 50+ Employees category by the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade. Their annual awards program recognizes local businesses, organizations and business leaders in the community who have demonstrated excellence in their commitment to quality, customer service, management skills and community involvement.
  • In early November, Elexicon and Grandview Kids Foundation held their second Dream Big, Dream Brighter fundraising event, raising $37,330. The proceeds will ensure Grandview Kids Foundation can continue to help thousands of children and youth live life at their full potential.

  • The Ontario government announced it installed electric vehicle (“EV”) chargers at 20 renovated ONroute stations along the province’s busiest highways, the 400 and 401. All stations are now equipped with at least two EV chargers at each site, with busier areas equipped with more. More info…
  • The Government of Ontario is starting pre-development work to site the first large-scale nuclear build in over three decades. Bruce Power will start community consultations and conduct the environmental assessment for federal approval to determine the feasibility of siting up to 4,800 megawatts (“MW”) of new nuclear generation on its current site. The comprehensive process could take a decade or longer. More info…
  • The Government of Ontario is working with Ontario Power Generation to commence planning and licensing for three additional small modular reactors (SMRs), for a total of four SMRs at the Darlington nuclear site in Clarington. Once deployed, these four units would produce a total 1200 MW of electricity, equivalent to powering 1.2 million homes. Subject to Ontario Government and Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission regulatory approvals on construction, the additional SMRs could come online between 2034 and 2036. More info…

  • The Government of Ontario released the Powering Ontario’s Growth plan, outlining the actions the province is taking to meet the increasing demand for electricity through the 2030s and 2040s. The plan focuses on these areas: nuclear energy, competitive procurements, new transmission infrastructure, assessing new hydroelectric opportunities, and additional measures like energy efficiency and distributed energy resources.   • On November 1, electricity prices under the Regulated Price Plan for households, small businesses and farms increased; the winter Time-of-Use hours and the change in the threshold for residential customers on Tiered pricing took effect; and the Ontario Electricity Rebate (“OER”) increased to 19.3 per cent. The OER provides a rebate on the electricity bill of residential, small business and farm customers. For a typical residential customer using 700 kWh of electricity per month, the OER will decrease bills by about $26 each month. More info…
  • The Ontario government increased funding for the province’s Indigenous Energy Support Programs by $5 million, bringing the total annual investment to $15 million. Ninety-three (93) projects from across 58 indigenous communities will receive funding from the programs in 2023. More info…
  • The Canada Energy Regulator has released the 2023 edition of their report, Canada’s Energy Future. The report examines three possible scenarios for Canada and the world. If Canada is to meet its goals, fossil fuels are expected to decrease by 65 per cent between 2021 and 2050, and electricity use more than doubles. More info…

  • The Government of Ontario is working with Ontario Power Generation to commence planning and licensing for three additional small modular reactors (SMRs), for a total of four SMRs at the Darlington nuclear site in Clarington.   • On October 23, Elexicon Energy launched a new electricity price plan for its residential and small business customers. The Ultra-Low Overnight price plan provides a third option for Elexicon customers, in addition to the existing Time-of-Use and Tiered plans.
  • Green Button, an Ontario Ministry of Energy initiative, is a data standard that connects energy customers with secure access to their electricity and natural gas data, allowing them to download and share it with registered third-party vendors who can help analyze the information and find ways to better manage energy costs. The province set November 1 as the deadline for energy and natural gas companies to provide their customers with access to their energy usage data in Green Button. Elexicon was pleased to meet this deadline.
