As a business owner, the health and safety of your employees, customers and suppliers is a top priority. View Elexicon Energy’s list of safety measures to prevent electrical hazards within your workplace.

Panels and Circuits

  • Label circuit breakers in your electrical panel: This will help you keep track of what room or office and equipment each circuit belongs to.
  • Periodically check fuses: You should consistently monitor fuses, as loose fuses can overheat and pose a safety hazard.

Cords and Plugs

  • Carefully unplug devices: When disconnecting devices, pull the plug instead of the cord.
  • Keep cords away from heat sources and water: These elements can damage cords and cause serious injury such as electric shock.
  • Do not leave cords in high-traffic areas: This can be a tripping hazard and cause damage to the cord itself.
  • Use outdoor cords: Only certified three-prong extension cords should be used outdoors.

Electrical Devices

  • Do not leave devices plugged in: Unplug any electrical equipment while not in use.
  • Use appropriate light bulbs: When replacing light bulbs, ensure they are the correct wattage for the fixture.
  • Do not attempt to repair energized devices: Always ensure devices are de-energized by using a tester.
