In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Elexicon Energy’s offices and Customer Experience Centre will be closed on Monday, October 2, 2023. Employees are being encouraged to use this day to learn and reflect on the history and legacy of the residential school system.
As a business owner, the health and safety of your employees, customers and suppliers is a top priority. View Elexicon Energy’s list of safety measures to prevent electrical hazards within your workplace.
Panels and Circuits
Label circuit breakers in your electrical panel: This will help you keep track of what room or office and equipment each circuit belongs to.
Periodically check fuses: You should consistently monitor fuses, asloose fuses can overheat and pose a safety hazard.
Cords and Plugs
Carefully unplug devices: When disconnecting devices, pull the plug instead of the cord.
Keep cords away from heat sources and water: These elements can damage cords and cause serious injury such as electric shock.
Do not leave cords in high-traffic areas: This can be a tripping hazard and cause damage to the cord itself.
Use outdoor cords: Only certified three-prong extension cords should be used outdoors.
Electrical Devices
Do not leave devices plugged in: Unplug any electrical equipment while not in use.
Use appropriate light bulbs: When replacing light bulbs, ensure they are the correct wattage for the fixture.
Do not attempt to repair energized devices: Always ensure devices are de-energized by using a tester.
