“The Oshawa Vikings Rugby Club were both privileged and honoured to have received a sponsorship from Elexicon Energy. This sponsorship provided the financial support to help get five players and coaches, who were preselected for the MARI team (Mixed Ability Rugby Invitational), to play an invitational game against the Malone Tornadoes in Belfast, Ireland this past May. Through this support, we were able to get athletes both with and without disabilities over to play competitive contact rugby; a game they have been so deterred from playing before. The impact on the athletes’ lives has been far reaching, including opportunities to continue to teach MAS to community members abroad and at home so others can see full inclusion in sport is possible and achievable.”
