AJAX, ON — March 29, 2023 – Elexicon Energy (“Elexicon”) has received the Electricity Distributors Association’s (“EDA”) Public Electrical Safety Excellence Award for its commitment to improving public electrical safety through its support of, and collaboration with, the Kids Safety Village of Durham Region. The award was presented Monday evening at the EDA’s Awards Gala, held in Toronto at the Fairmont Royal York.
“It is a tremendous honour to be recognized for our strong commitment to electrical safety in our workplace, on our work sites, in our communities, and our partnership with the Kids’ safety Village of Durham Region,” said Elexicon President and CEO Indrani Butany-DeSouza. “Elexicon is proud to support and collaborate with the Kids Safety Village, who provides quality safety programs in a positive and interactive atmosphere to protect our most valuable resource… our children.”
Elexicon’s Health, Safety & Environment team has supported and collaborated with the Safety Village to provide virtual and in-classroom electrical safety presentations for students in Grades 1 to 3. The Kids Safety Village of Durham Region is a kid-sized version of a real town. The Village is situated on 1.2 acres, has miniature structures, realistic traffic lights and signs, a working railroad crossing, pedal vehicles, scooters, bicycles and two classrooms.

The EDA’s annual awards program and Gala brings together top performing electric utilities from across Ontario to recognize and celebrate key accomplishments, outstanding customer service and environmental programs, and innovations and best practices on the part of the organizations that deliver safe and reliable power across Ontario.
