A customer may request a scheduled appointment, also known as a ‘disconnect/reconnect’ to isolate a secondary service at the meter or padmount transformer.
A reconnect is provided once the customer work is complete and inspection requirements are met (ESA). These appointments require customer presence (electrician, contractor or the homeowner) to be on-site for the disconnect and the reconnect.
Residential customers will receive one (1) free power interruption per year (rolling 12 months) during normal business hours (Monday to Friday).

The customer must complete all of their work and send a reconnection notice sent to Elexicon, with valid ESA Connection Authorization, before 2:30PM for same day reconnection.
If the reconnect has not been completed prior to 2:30PM, Elexicon Energy has an after hour charge of $185.00+HST payable prior to the reconnect. Alternatively, you can schedule the reconnect for the next business day, during regular business hours, at no cost.
Elexicon is required to follow the OEB-approved Tariff of Rates for our service districts, which include temporary service fees.
Project work completion is dependent on access to the site. If your project site is water access only (i.e. island property), notify Elexicon in your application. Elexicon has the ability to these sites by boat. The boat operates on a seasonal basis and not year-round. Please enquire with Elexicon on the current access status.
Any of the following appointments can be booked with an isolation.
Steps | Responsibility |
---|---|
1. Submission to Elexicon
Submit the ‘Connection and Upgrades Request’ fillable form. Include a brief summary of proposed work in the Comments field. Submit the form to engineering@elexiconenergy.com for Whitby or dservices@elexiconenergy.com for all other areas. | Customer |
2. Scheduling the Appointment
Upon receipt of the request with fillable form, the Connections Coordinator will confirm availability with you and schedule the work, sending an email confirmation with the appointment information. The customer must ensure that ESA is able to inspect their work on the day of the isolation or have issued a pre-authorization. ESA Connection Authorization is required for Elexicon to reconnect a service after electrical work is completed. | Customer & Elexicon |
3. Isolation
On the day scheduled, Elexicon will disconnect the service in the morning. The customer must ensure that they/their electrician are on site. Elexicon will reconnect the service after receiving ESA and/or notification, as required. The customer must send reconnection notice by 2:30PM or late reconnection fees will apply (non-Whitby only). - For pre-authorized ESA Connection Authorization, the customer will contact Elexicon to request the reconnection when they are ready. - If the work does not have pre-authorized ESA, ESA will send the Connection Authorization directly to Elexicon once inspection has been completed and passed. Once received, Elexicon will dispatch the reconnection. | Customer & Elexicon |
An upgrade is required when you are changing an existing service’s size (ie. 100A to 200A).
Not all upgrades can be completed with an isolation and may require an Elexicon Offer to Connect/Service Layout. See the below steps for details.

2. Review of Existing Equipment
Based on the information provided, a Technician will review your current service wire and determine if there is sufficient capacity from the transformer (road) to the meter base to support the upgrade. When the review is completed, a Connections Coordinator will email you the results. - If the existing wire/equipment is sufficient to support the upgrade, Elexicon will ask you to schedule the work as an isolation (proceed to Step 3) - If the wire/equipment is not sufficient to support the upgrade, Elexicon will advise you that an Offer to Connect is required and ask if you want to proceed. The Offer to Connect will be accompanied by an Engineered design and will outline the customer work and costs required. This type of work cannot be completed with an isolation. See Offer to Connect section for more information and next steps. | Elexicon |
3. Customer Confirmation
Contact the Connections Coordinator with the requested isolation date for the disconnect/reconnect. The Connections Coordinator will confirm availability with you and schedule the work, sending an email confirmation with the appointment information. Advise Elexicon if a disconnection in the transformer is required. The customer must ensure that ESA is able to inspect their work on the day of the isolation or have issued a pre-authorization. Elexicon is not able to reconnect a service without a valid ESA Connection Authorization. | Customer |
