What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day is a day to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of women and girls and the value they bring to society. It is an opportunity to reflect on the actions taken globally to increase equality while also committing to empowering women so they can thrive. I truly believe that when women support each other, incredible things happen.

What has been the greatest achievement in your career?

The greatest achievement in my career has been transitioning from my former role to my current one. I have been fortunate to build strong relationships with community and municipal leaders, charities, industry leaders, and others in both roles, creating a better environment through their partnership. There have been many times when I pushed myself outside my comfort zone, and those are the moments when I learned and grew the most, both personally and professionally.

I have also taken time for self-reflection and learned how to capitalize on my strengths and passions. I love meeting new people, helping and engaging others, planning, organizing, being creative, and making a difference every day. My new role allows me to do all of these things, and for that, I am grateful.

I’ve learned that if you don’t ask, you don’t get. The worst thing they can say is “no,” and that’s okay. While I don’t consider myself fearless, I am adventurous and resourceful, and I’m okay with feeling vulnerable. One of my favorite quotes is from Eleanor Roosevelt: “Well-behaved women rarely make history.” I will continue to grow professionally and hope one day to lead an inclusive team as a powerful motivator.

Why is it important to #AccelerateAction and continue working towards gender equality?

I want my daughter to constantly be inspired and know that she inspires me every day. I want her to always have an equal voice and feel that she belongs. She should be judged based on her abilities, not her gender. No girl should grow up thinking she can’t do something because of her gender; instead, she should feel inspired and empowered to be the best version of herself. I believe if we #AccelerateAction, we are taking things a step further and looking to be allies to women and people in situations different from our own.
