What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on the tremendous contributions women make every day – within our families, communities, and workplaces. However, it is also a moment to recognize that we still have a long way to go in achieving true equality.
What has been the greatest achievement in your career?
I have been fortunate to work in many different countries outside of Canada, including Hong Kong, China, the United Kingdom, Australia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. My greatest achievement has been my ability to adapt to extremely different (and sometimes dangerous) environments, work alongside diverse cultures and step far outside my comfort zone, all while finding success. This required a strong emotional quotient (EQ), self-awareness of my own limitations and an understanding of where I could push myself further. These experiences have shaped me as both a person and a leader, reinforcing how valuable diversity is to a team.
Why is it important to #AccelerateAction and continue working towards gender equality?
When we #AccelerateAction and advance gender equality, we unlock countless benefits for societies worldwide – saving lives, improving healthcare, strengthening economies, ensuring better legal protections, reducing poverty and so much more. The impact is undeniable, and we must continue to push forward.
