What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day is a day for us to step back and reflect on the tremendous contributions women make on a daily basis - within our families, communities, and workplace. However, it’s also a time for us to recognize that we still have a lot of work to do to come to a place of equality.

What has been the greatest achievement in your career?

I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in many different countries outside of Canada, including Hong Kong, China, United Kingdom, Australia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I would say my greatest achievement has been my ability to be adaptable to extremely different (even dangerous) environments, work amongst and with different cultures, stepping very far outside my comfort zone - and been successful in doing so. This also involved practicing a lot of EQ (emotional quotient/intelligence) and being very self-aware about my own limitations but also learning where I could push myself further. These experiences have helped shape me as a person and a leader and really recognize and celebrate what amazing things diversity can bring to a team.

Why is it important to #InspireInclusion and to continue to work towards gender equality?

If we can #InspireInclusion and find gender equality that would lead to so many things that would benefit societies around the world – including saving lives, better healthcare, improvements to the economy, better legal protections, reduction in poverty and so much more (too many to list)!
