Apprentice Powerline Technician

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day raises awareness and celebrates the achievements and actions of women who make a positive impact in our lives.

What has been the greatest achievement in your career?

My greatest achievement so far has been attending and passing my first year of apprenticeship school. It was an incredible learning experience, allowing me to gain insights from others in the industry and reinforce the knowledge and skills my colleagues shared with me during my first year as a powerline technician apprentice. During this time, I learned how to operate a radial boom derrick (RBD) and an insulated aerial device (IAD), as well as complete line tasks such as framing poles and installing overhead and underground conductors. I look forward to continuing to gain knowledge and develop the skills that will help me grow in this trade as I work toward completing my second year of apprenticeship and line school.

Why is it important to #AccelerateAction and continue working towards gender equality?

We all have something unique to bring to the table that we can act on, and an inclusive work environment allows us to work together, showcase our strengths and learn from each other’s backgrounds and skill sets. Everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue and succeed in a career they are passionate about.
