Apprentice Powerline Technician

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s day raises awareness, celebrates women’s achievements and actions that make a positive impact in our lives.

What has been the greatest achievement in your career?

My greatest achievement in my career so far has been attending and passing first year school in my apprenticeship. It was a great learning experience getting to learn from others in the industry as well as a great opportunity to reinforce the knowledge and skills that my colleagues have shared with me during my first year as a powerline technician apprentice. During my first year and at school, I had the opportunity to learn how to use a RBD (Radial boom derrick), IAD (Insulated arial device), as well as complete some line tasks like framing poles and installing overhead and underground conductor. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to gain knowledge and develop skills that will help me grow in this trade as I work toward completing the second year of my apprenticeship and second year line school.

Why is it important to #InspireInclusion and to continue to work towards gender equality?

We all have something unique to bring to the table and an inclusive work environment allows us all to work together to showcase our strengths and continue to benefit and learn from each other’s backgrounds and skill sets. Everyone deserves the opportunity to peruse and be successful in a career they are passionate about.
